SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS EXAM
The Department of Revenue, Springfield, Illinois has fixed Thursday, October 26, 2017, as the date for an examination of the office of the Supervisor of Assessments.
The examination will be held at the Douglas County Courthouse, located at 401 S. Center Street, Tuscola, IL. 61953, at the hour of 10:00 a.m.
Application forms and information may be obtained by contacting Judi Pollock at the Douglas County Clerk’s Office, Room 203, in Tuscola, IL. located at 401 S. Center Street. Individuals interested in taking the examination should contact Judi Pollock at 217 253-2442 by 10:00 a.m. of the day before the examination to register.
To be eligible for election or appointment to the office of Supervisor of Assessments, an individual must meet the eligibility criteria set forth in 35 ILCS 200/3-5 of the Property Tax Code.
The examination and facilities will be accessible to persons with disabilities in compliance with state and federal laws. Persons in need of special accommodations should notify Judi Pollock at 217 253-2442, by Wednesday, October 25, 2017. 10:00 a.m. to make the necessary arrangements.
DOUGLAS COUNTY SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS
POSITION: Supervisor of Assessments for Douglas County, an east central Illinois County of approximately 20,000. County seat in Tuscola, Illinois.
Administrative duties include administration of County office with three personnel; coordination with and leadership of several local township assessors; report to County Board; and deal with general public on daily basis. Technical duties include the assessment of all county real estate—residential, agricultural and commercial properties--with the goal of creating fair, accurate and equalized assessments. Requires computer skills and the ability to deal with large data and assessment programs.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must have passed the Supervisor of Assessments Exam, a test required by the Illinois Department of Revenue. For applicants who have not yet taken the test, one will be administered at the Douglas County Courthouse, 401 S Center Street, Tuscola, IL on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 10:00 o’clock, Douglas County Board Room. Applicant must also have either training or experience in real estate appraisal/assessment.
DESIRED SKILLS: It is desired, but not required, that applicant have experience dealing with the software assessment programs known as Vanguard CAMAvision and DevNet. Prior administrative experience in office management including supervision and evaluation of personnel is also desired but not required.
