The Douglas County Animal Shelter provides microchipping services for $15.00, which includes registration with 24PetWatch. This service is available any time during regular business hours Wednesday through Saturday--no appointments necessary, just come on in!

Our adoption fee for dogs/puppies is $115.00 and includes all annual vaccines (including rabies), heartworm testing, spayed or neutered , as well as a microchip.

Potential adopters must provide a vet reference. If the adopter rents he or she must also provide verification that they are allowed to have pets on the property. In addition, it is mandatory that any dog going to a home with other dogs be introduced prior to adoption to ensure compatibility.

Our adoption fee for cats/kittens is $50.00 and includes a broad-spectrum vaccine, FIV, FLV, and heartworm testing. Adoption rates may vary depending on services performed.

Potential adopters must provide a vet reference. If the adopter rents he or she must also provide verification that they are allowed to have pets on the property.

Rabies tags are not just a requirement--they come with their own benefits!
Dogs sporting collars with tags can be returned to their owners faster, avoiding
extra fines and stressful kennel stays at our facility. In addition, if your dog
bites another animal or person, they may be eligible for home quarantine
instead of coming to us or a veterinarian. Our facility is also run primarily on
registration fees--so your tags are helping a stray or homeless pet get the best
care we can provide and a new family!

State law requires that all dogs be vaccinated against rabies and
registered with the county they live in beginning at 4 months of age. Rabies
tags are available at many local vets, however should you need to
register directly with us please mail a copy of your rabies certificate along
with a check payable to Douglas County Animal Control for the following
amount (as applicable):

          1-Year Altered         $10.00             3-Year Altered       $20.00
          1-Year Unaltered     $20.00             3-Year Unaltered    $50.00
*Seniors (65+) may receive up to 2 altered tags free
